Dear Reader, A few years ago Dan Siegel rejected me. He offered to write the forward to my second book, The Self-Compassion Daily Journal while we were on retreat together in Costa Rica. But a few weeks later, when I returned home I got an email from him telling me he couldn't write it. To tell the truth, I was angry, embarrassed (I had bragged about it a bit), and sad. After the tears dried, I took a second look at his reason why. Dan Siegel is a change maker, thought leader, and innovator in the field of Interpersonal Neurobiology. He's ahead of the curve, and he saw what I, in my heart, knew was coming but couldn't admit. Self-compassion--focuses on the self as a separate entity. He would write the intro if I called it something different--inner compassion? Compassion? Just not self. Because the self extends beyond our individual bodies. What Dan taught me was a hard truth. Sometimes we have to disappoint people because we believe in something. And sometimes telling the truth changes people in ways we don't expect, but for the better. So, here we are in 2026, and guess who is my first guest on the Tell the Truth series? Dr. Dan Siegel. He made me cry. And he challenged me to both look at the truth, and tell the truth. Don't you want to hear us, unscripted, in conversation? I fully intend to "go there" with him and in these series. Why? Because we have everything to lose if we don't tell the truth--to ourselves and to each other. And everything to gain, if we show up fully, in the truth of who we are. We are connected, we are Intra-connected, and as Dan will reveal through neuroscience, story and dialogue, we are not as separate as we think. If you are a member of my online community, you get automatic access to the virtual events and a ticket to a salon of your choice. Tell the truth, keep growing, stay close to the work, and to me, wherever you are. P.S. Get your ticket to Tell The Truth: Dan Siegel today. |
